Welcome Message from The Dean Faculty Of- Basic Medical Science

It is a great pleasure to welcome you to the web page of the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences at University of Calabar, Nigeria. The Faculty is the bedrock of medical education as we continually pursue to provide the foundation for the training of Biomedical Scientists and Health professionals. As you join us, you will discover that our team consists of a wonderful and amiable set of professors and other senior staff as well as our wealth of technical and administrative staff positioned to provide you with the best experience in the Biomedical Science world. Our aim, therefore, is to inculcate in our students of all backgrounds and abilities the foundation necessary to go into the world as lifelong learners and I-can-do spirit for school and life after school. 

The Faculty is made up of five departments namely:  

i.             Anatomical Sciences

ii.          Biochemistry

iii.        Human Nutrition and Dietetics

iv.         Pharmacology

v.           Physiology

Most of the departments offer programs leading to the award of B.Sc. degrees, Postgraduate Diplomas, M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in various fields. However, we deliver far more than degrees. The Faculty delivers experiences that last for a lifetime. As a community, we champion your ambition, equipping you for your career and beyond and actively supporting every step you made on your way to become a professional. Our programs also offer you diverse opportunities to explore your interest and to develop leadership skills that will stand you out.
