Welcome Message from The Dean Faculty Of- Dentistry

The Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Calabar, Nigeria welcomes you to its web page. Our young faculty, located in the coastal city of Calabar- Nigeria’s foremost tourism hub, is presently one of the fastest-growing centres of comprehensive and qualitative training in dental education in Nigeria. We are deeply committed to total, comprehensive, and qualitative training of students in all aspects of Dental Medicine and rendering qualitative dental-related consultancy services to the general public. The faculty offers a six-year training program that leads to the award of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree and shares part of its curriculum with the Medicine and Surgery program. All activities in the faculty and its BDS program are closely monitored and regulated by the College of Medical Sciences in the University of Calabar, Calabar.
 
Our faculty, and indeed the entire University is suitably located, in a very serene and conducive environment for students from diverse backgrounds to have a rewarding training experience and therefore, be exceptional in their practice after graduation. Our faculty, located beside the famous University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, Calabar, offers students great opportunities to gain an enriching experience necessary for promoting oral health, skill acquisition, innovative thinking and research, and discovery. The Faculty has five highly specialized departments comprising the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Department of Child Dental Health, Department of Preventive Dentistry, Department of Oral Pathology, Oral Medicine & Oral Diagnosis, and Department of Restorative Dentistry. We will continue to pride ourselves as the best-equipped Faculty of Dentistry in Nigeria with our high-profile stock of high-tech equipment in high-end laboratories. The entire academic and training exercises in the faculty are manned by an array of highly experienced and committed teaching, technical and administrative staff who are always around to inspire and assist students to learn and acquire all relevant skills needed to make them become professionals in dental medicine.  
The rich database of our proud Alumni, who are at the forefront of excellent quality of dental care services, dental care promotion and policy, and above all, their fulfilling scientific accomplishments, have continued to inspire us to offer our students the very best possible training. All faculty members are appreciative of their supports that has significantly contributed to the development of the Faculty and enrichment of the program.
