Welcome Message from The Dean Faculty Of- Pharmacy

Welcome to the web portal of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Calabar, Nigeria located in the paradise city and prime tourists destination of Nigeria, Calabar. Our main objective is to train students to become world-class Pharmacists and Pharmaceutical Scientists, who are equipped to provide quality Pharmaceutical services in the various areas of Pharmacy practice. The Faculty runs a degree programme that leads to the award of Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D). As a newly established Faculty, we are delighted to provide you with information on the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) Programme which is known for excellence.

The Pharm.D Programme was approved by the University Senate on the 24th of February, 2020 in the 2019/2020 academic session of the University. Having been provided with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment for learning and research, the Faculty has become a place of attraction for quality staff and students who can go through the rigors of the Doctor of Pharmacy Programme as is known globally. The Faculty is dedicated to teaching, learning, research and community service. Our core mandate is to assist our students to fulfil their dreams of becoming a Pharmacist through the pursuit of academic excellence.

The newly introduced Pharm.D degree has increased the services that Pharmacists can offer especially in clinical services. A Pharmacist has diverse opportunities in the areas of Academic and Industrial research, Drug production/ manufacturing, Clinical Practice, Pharmaceutical and Patient care, Public Health, Social Services and administration, Veterinary pharmacy, Herbal medicines and Nutraceuticals and much more. 

 Our Faculty comprises seven (7) departments. These are:

1. Department of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology
2. Department of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry
3. Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Public Health 
4. Department of Pharmacognosy and Natural Medicines
5. Department of Pharmaceutical Microbiology and Biotechnology
6. Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology 
7. Department of Social and Administrative Pharmacy

Our highly motivated and qualified friendly Faculty members - Academics and Non-academics, in the various Departments, prepare the Pharmacist to be versatile, and ready to face the world. The curriculum enables us to produce graduates with adequate knowledge, technical, communication and clinical skills with ethical competence in Pharmacy education and practice, and well-educated persons having capable scientific minds, who are also top-notch professionals adept at managerial duties.

The University will keep striving to provide the enabling environment and facilities to grow and run an outstanding Programme.
